New Blogger in Family

I meant to get on yesterday...but no...somebody had to be a computer hog - my mom. Do you want to know why? SHE GOT A BLOG! This is major news people. I've been begging and persuading her to get one forever, and she finally gave in. I'm glad that I persuaded her, but now we have to fight over the computer for blogging time. haha And I'm her private computer tutor. I feel like we've switched places, because I'll be working on my sewing, and she'll call, "Lexi, will you come help me with this?" and I'll go help her. She'll have been puzzling over something for 15 minutes, and in 1 click, I'll fix it for her. It's pretty funny. She's still working on it, but if you want a preview, go to: Hearts Full if Joy - on the joys of quilting, antiques, motherhood, adoption, life in Japan and much more

It might look like there's not much now, but there'll be more.

I finished 2 more quilt blocks. This pattern is called Twister. It's made up of little pinwheel blocks. When they're all finished, the blocks are about 4 inches tall. If anybody wants the pattern and directions, just ask me. I'm only making aqua blocks right now, but I'm going to make pink, lavender, peach, green, yellow, blue, and red blocks too. I know the edges of the blocks don't look so good, but they'll look good when I sew the blocks together. I'm doing this all by hand, people!

(above:) block #4 - I think it's the cutest!

(above:) all 4 blocks! Keep cheering me on, people!

This is like the funniest short movie I got off of imeem.com, made by somebody who had a lot of time on their hands. It's a Lord of the Rings movie, and it's about 2 minutes long. They took quotes from the 1st & 2nd movie, and put them in a funny order. But it's mainly about Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn chasing after the Uruk-hai that took Merry and Pippin away. The repeated line, "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!" is said because Aragorn asks, "Legolas, what do your elf eyes see?" just so it makes a little bit more sense. The repeated lines, the order their in, the way they played around with the theme song and had the lines be in rhythm with the song, it had me and Tashi laughing so hard we were crying, but it might just be us. You'll have to see for yourself. If the movie doesn't work, click HERE to go to the actual site. But just to let you know, there's advertising on that site.

That's all for today, folks.

Sleepover & stuff

Nobody's commenting...so does that mean this is my private, personal journal now? Is nobody reading it? Who knows...

Well, on Sunday, I was invited to Maika's house for a sleepover, because she and Mana didn't have school the next day. We had spaghetti for dinner, and I had troubles with the potato salad serving spoon. haha

Then we played Rummikub, 10 rounds of Harry Potter Uno, and The Game of Life - in Japanese! I won Life, but out of the 6 people who played (me, Maika, Mana, Ribeka, Yoshuya, and Kousuke), I was 2nd to last place on Uno. I would have been 2nd place in Rummikub, but that's not how it's played...

Me and Maika talked until 1 am, and fell asleep. We woke up at 9 am...it felt good!

We ate breakfast, hung out, and took purikura:

And then I went home. Thanks Maika & Nanjo's!
I taught English to my student, and Tashi and Noah came along to play with Yuu-chan.

We had family home evening, and I finished reading "Mrs. Mike". Notice I've changed the layout and I've updated my sidebar (the to-dolist, music etc...)

I just read a really good blog article, click HERE to read it. It's the post with the picture of a cupcake. I love her blog. It gives me inspirations for handmade projects.

Oh, and I just read on blogherald.com that blogging is healthy for you:
1. Blogs can promote critical and analytical thinking.
2. Blogging can be a powerful promoter of creative, intuitive, and associational thinking.
3. Blogs promote analogical thinking.
4. Blogging is a powerful medium for increasing access and exposure to quality information.
5. Blogging combines the best of solitary reflection and social interaction.

Happy Birthday Tashi!

So I slept okay...and I woke up the morning of the 27th, got the garbage out, and made a breakfast of German pancakes while Tashi slept in 'til 9 am. Then we just hung out all morning, and I took Tashi to go take purikura (we always take purikura on each other's birthdays)

(Thank you Maika for sending me these!)

HSM On Tour
So then we came home, and I slaved away making Tashi's cake and dinner. We had tofu lasgna, garlic bread, and tomato & fresh mozarella cheese salad. Then Tashi opened her gifts. I gave Tashi some pink eyeshadow, as shown in picture below.

And finally, she blew out her candle. Great picture of Tashi, huh? The mixture of gifts, cake, and playing all day got to her I think.

So Happy Birthday Tashi, Brady, and Maika!

Tired Lexi

So yeah. We had mutual last night. So I've finished my 10-hour project now (teaching how to make quilted scripture covers). But of course I'll still teach.
OMG I am so tired right now...I hope I get a good night's sleep tonight! Today I worked some more on my English portfolio, I'll post those maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow's Tashi's birthday! It sounds like we'll just have a simple, at home party.
NO COMMENTS FOR 5 DAYS...*SIGH*...

This Is The Life

I finished another block the other day, and I'm onto my 3rd block.

They're pretty cute, huh?

HSM Girls In London

We babysat the Vilburn kids tonight. They were pretty good. I'm glad me and Tash did the job together or else I think we would have lost our minds. They're good kids, but when there's 5 kids under the age of 8...things can happen no matter how good they are. So anyways...
Oh yeah, I went to Ito Yokado with my mom to go shopping. I've been buying and making dinner for the past 3 nights. It's tiring. I'm doing it for a Personal Progress goal, but I've got to do it for 2 weeks. I'm couting down the days! If this post doesn't make sense, it's because I'm tired. Hopefully I can just sleep in tomorrow...it's Tashi's birthday and all...
